Who, me?

This introduction video is a quick look at who I am and how I approach storytelling. It highlights my background in video production, my experience creating content for brands and platforms, and the style I bring to every project. From concept to final edit, my focus is on crafting visually engaging, narrative-driven work that connects with audiences and leaves a lasting impression.
My Story.
I’m Alex Jacobsen, a filmmaker, video editor, and storyteller currently based in Richmond. Over the past four years, I’ve worked across freelance projects, short films, branded content, and large-scale real estate productions, always chasing the same goal: making people feel something through visual storytelling.
I currently create city and neighborhood content for Homes.com, where I help bring places to life through cinematic video. Along the way, I’ve written, produced, directed, and edited award-winning short films, including Best Shot, which picked up multiple honors at the 48-Hour Film Festival in Richmond.
When I’m not editing timelines into oblivion, I’m usually writing fantasy stories, reading, traveling, or hunting down a good coffee shop. I’m also someone who genuinely loves the process of creating, whether that’s polishing color in DaVinci Resolve, building narrative structure in a script, or finding the perfect music cue that suddenly makes a scene click.
Before diving fully into filmmaking, I also spent time coaching tennis, which taught me a lot about communication, patience, and how to connect with people from all kinds of backgrounds. Oddly enough, those same skills ended up becoming a huge part of how I approach creative work and collaboration today.

I still coach for fun on the side. Maybe I'll see you on the court!
